Palace of Attems in Graz

The magnificent palace Attems is a real gem of the Baroque style and the most famous house in the center of Graz. This building holds many picturesque Austrian festivals.
The history of the palace dates back to the beginning of the eighteenth century, when in place of the five old houses had been built a large mansion with a cozy patio to an influential family Attems Ignaz. Planning and design of the building involved an architect Joachim Carlone, who used many of the Italic and decorative objects.
The luxurious mansion belonged to the genus Attems more than two hundred and fifty years. The first floor of the palace used by the owners for the reception and the second - were equipped living rooms, library and art gallery.
Modern Palais Attems successfully retained its original Baroque form with characteristics of those times. During a walk through the area Schlossberg you will notice on the corner of this large four-story house with a richly decorated façade.
The interior of the palace gives an accurate picture of the aristocratic life of the era. Steep majestic staircase is decorated with frescoes and exquisitely decorated with stucco. All rooms are decorated with tiles and stucco, and the furniture is sustained in the same style and is fully consistent with the spirit of those times. Also in the house there are many antique fireplaces.
