The deepest lake in Austria (191 meters), Lake Traunsee (Traunsee) is among the Alps. On its shores are located four of the town - Gmunden (Gmunden), Ebensee (Ebensee), Altmünster (Altmunster) and Traunkirchen (Traunkirchen), centers of tourism and leisure, between which runs the steamer "Gisela", the oldest paddle steamer in Europe.
Magnificent views of the lake surrounded by mountains, beautiful nature, landmarks attract many tourists and vacationers, especially since, thanks to a very mild climate, the holiday season at the lake from May to early October. At the disposal of guests all the traditional water sports and activities - diving, surfing, sailing, fishing, horseback riding scooters and sailing.
The town of Gmunden is known for its medieval castle Ort, located on the island, and ceramic factory. The fact that there is a large part of the whole Austrian pottery shows everything - from ceramics made in the town of fountains and even chimes in the City Hall. The castle today held summer music festivals. Also worth visiting in the parish church where the altar is a magnificent work of Thomas Shvanthalera.
You can also visit the former salt mine and visit the amazing mountains of the Dachstein ice caves.
At the height of the season on the shores of the lake are 53 restaurants where you can find dishes of any cuisine of the world - from local to exotic Asian. And yet - 20 bars, wine bars three and a nightclub. In general - will not be bored to anyone - neither nature lovers, or lovers of entertainment.
