Lago General Carrera Lake


In the mountains of Patagonia in Chile there is a lake called Lago General Carrera, which is very popular among tourists
Its main feature is the marble caves (in Spanish Las cavernas de marmol). The lake is located on the territory of Chile and Argentina, but the caves are located on a peninsula of limestone, belong to Chile. The beauty of the Marble Cathedral (also known caves) bewitches all to see.

Las cavernas de marmol are mineral formation of calcium carbonate. Over the years, the water of one of the deepest lakes in the world eroded cliffs, so that the only condition for a visit is the presence of a small boat. The marble caves consist of five billion tonnes of blue and pink marble. The abundance of blue gives the surreal impression of caves - you can imagine that you were on another planet. Cave formations can recall a human face, the lion's head - is where the imagination roam.
