Salzburger Museum of Modern Art is presenting two buildings that are located in two particular areas of Salzburg. The main museum building Rupertinum located in the heart of the Old City opposite the Palais des Festivals and is a baroque building, which can be quite easy to identify - its impressive facade is decorated with glazed tiles shining in the sun Wizard F. Hundervassera.Rupertinum Museum presents its guests with the art of the 20th century. The idea of opening such a museum owned by a local resident Friedrich Welz, Salzburg, who passed most of the paintings from his rich private collection. Throwing open its doors in 1983, Rupertinum at that time was considered in Salzburg, the only museum of modern art, but in 2004 on a steep hillside just above Menhsber Anton Neumayer Platz, the doors opened another museum of modern art and Rupertinum was already part of the new museum .The new museum on the mountain cliff has four floors and was built by Munich architectural firm of Frederick Hoff Tsvinka. Outside, the building faced with marble of the local mountains and divided Untersberg vertical seams that play a significant role not only in the conditioning of the building. They also act as a certain message of Salzburg. With a unique computer program, on the facade in the form of narrow longitudinal holes, which correspond to the rhythm, the notes were written by some of the arias from Mozart's opera entitled "Don Giovanni."The spacious halls of the museum quite often hold large exhibition of international contemporary art, as well as various other exhibitions. Both museum buildings have 3000 square meters of exhibition space. In recent years, the walls of the museum presented his work hundreds of international artists, including Ernst Haas, Erwin Wurm, Rebecca Horn and others. There is also a photo gallery of Austria, which has more than 17,000 photographs. The museum has a small shop, located on the first floor. The Museum of Modern Art is extremely child friendly as they offer workshops and guided tours for the little ones.
