Perito Moreno Glacier - Glacier, located in the National Park Los Glaciares National Park, in south-eastern Argentine province of Santa Cruz. It is considered one of the most beautiful tourist sites in the Argentine part of Patagonia.
The glacier is located 78 kilometers from the town of El Calafate, where you can get on an airplane. Perito Moreno Glacier was named after the explorer Francisco Moreno, who first explored this region in the XIX century and played an important role in protecting the interests of the territorial dispute over the Argentine border with Chile.
Perito Moreno Glacier has an area of 250 km2 and is one of 48 glaciers fed by southern Patagonian glacier, located in the Andes on the border of Argentina and Chile. This ice plateau - the third largest reserve of fresh water in the world. The width of the language the Perito Moreno Glacier is 5 kilometers, the average height - 60 m above the water surface.
